Rod Collier was doing yardwork in front of his own house in the historic Herron-Morton Place in downtown Indianapolis, when a young couple rode past him on their bikes. The couple had stopped and were pointing at several houses on the block (several of which had been designed by Rottmann Collier Architects). They turned around and asked Rod why all the houses on the block felt so unique. Nothing strokes an architect’s ego like asking about their own architecture. They wanted to know more. During an impromptu tour of Rod’s home, he mentioned that there was a lot for sale just down the block. They bought the lot the and commissioned Rod to design this beautiful urban home. That is how the K House was born.
